“Hey did you hear about that shortage in Ferron, Utah,” said one of Wyoming’s most famous scientists Bob Sagget.
“What? I have never heard of Ferron, but what shortage? Like a food or water shortage?” said Dan Bell another scientist from Texas Tech.
“Yes it is in Ferron, Utah as I said before! It is a food and water shortage from RATS!”
“Ugh nasty vermin rats are,” Dan said.
“I know it’s crazy.”
“Do you know how it happened?” Dan said anxiously.
“Well they have had a drought for many years and the animals have been ok and so have the humans because it has been off and on plus there is a small population. The real problem is that there is a rat killer product that is more powerful that D-CON and they have been experimenting on rats and mice. The thing that happens is that the rats and mice go in to a hibernation state for about a week. Then they have about three times the amount of young in one batch than normal rats and mice do, and then they die after they have had this enormous batch. The young are roughly 4 to 5 times the size of normal rats as well!”
“That is absurd,” said Dan. “I have never heard such a thing!”
“There is another problem as well. They eat anything and everything they want or that gets in their way. I feel so bad for the people because the only thing that can supposedly kill them is a nuclear bomb or nuclear radiation.”
“Interesting but go on go on!” Dan said.
“I can tell that you want to hear more,”
“Yes I do now go on Bob.”
“Ok Dan don’t get to excited now is the thing that scares me the most and it is that the radiation from the nuclear war heads always and I mean always makes it worse in movies books that kind of thing. I don’t want that to happen there that would be horrible.”
“Yes yes I guess that is right, but this is no horror movie or ridiculous book it is full fledged reel life. Everything that happens in movies and books with that kind of thing such as nuclear radiation is completely made up. It is all extremely fiction.”
“I don’t know about that Dr. Bell this sounds like the real deal!”
“Don’t be a fool Bob if you can name me one time when that nuclear non sense has happened or that this has happened before.”
“It happens in books and movies all the time I already said that!”
“I meant in real life, you dunce, you are doing nothing but making yourself look more like a fool!”
“Ok when all of this happens do not come crying to me!”
“Believe me when (nuclear radiation takes over the planet) I won’t come to you because it never will happen,” Dan said sarcastically, as Bob walked out slamming things around.
Dan was laughing at how foolish Bob had been with this whole conversation when something came on the Television.
“We interrupt this program for a public announcement,” a man said on the television. Dan quickly sat down in the living room and started to listen to a specific news man he had never seen before.
“Hank Ackerman here broadcasting live from A little town called Ferron, Utah,”
As the man was talking you could see the rats running wildly across the television. They were the biggest rats he had ever seen, and they had to be bigger that the normal sized house cat. Then the man went on.

Then the television lost its signal and the static was the only sound to be head through the entire house everything else was eerily silent. Dan was in shock from what he had seen on the broadcast. “
“I guess I should call Bob and see if he saw that terrifying even on the earlier broadcast.”
He called Bob and as the phone rang he thought about their conversation about an hour ago and how he was going to apologize. He didn’t answer, so he tried again and again until he answered. “Hello” It was Bob’s wife. .
“Hello Mrs. Sagget, Is Bob there?”
“Yes one minute please,” she said.
He waited for several minutes, but it felt like hours as he was thinking of a good way to apologize.
“Hello Dan. Did you hear of that event on the television.”
“Yes but the television lost the signal,” “Well they said it is going to spread to every animal in the world!” Dan’s was so surprised he dropped the phone.
